I recently got a request for some space songs. Here are two intergalactic songs.
Blasting Off Is an easy song. I like to have the children fly like space ships around the room. I change the tempo of the song and ask the children to fly fast or slow depending on how I am singing.
The Planets Around the Sun is much more complicated, but I have found older kids really enjoy acting out the orbit of the planets. They enjoy when I cast the children as planets (any extras get to be part of the asteroid belt).
Blasting Off
(Tune: Do Your Ears Hang Low)
We are blasting off. We are flying into space.
Orbiting the moon. Give a satellite a chase.
Flying out to Mars and visiting the stars.
We are blasting off.
Planets Around The Sun
(Tune: The Ants Go Marching)
The planets revolve around the sun. Hurrah! Hurrah!
The planets revolve around the sun. Hurrah! Hurrah!
The planets revolve around the sun. They spin on their axis every one.
And they all go spinning, around and around . . .They go.
Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. Hurrah! Hurrah!
Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. Hurrah! Hurrah!
Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are whirling and twirling around the stars.
And they all go spinning, around and around . . .. They go.
Jupiter, Saturn are next in line. Hurrah! Hurrah!
Jupiter, Saturn are next in line. Hurrah! Hurrah!
Jupiter, Saturn are next in line. Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto make all nine.
And they all go spinning, around and around . . .. They go.
Don't forget the classic songs: Twinkle, Twinkle and Mr. Sun.
Happy Singing!
